Are Hidden Toxins Stealing Your Family's Health?
What You Need to Know About Hormone Disruptors
Your body. Your home. Your calling to steward it well.

You do your best for your family. You buy groceries, keep the house clean, pick out shampoo and soap without thinking twice.

But what if some of the very products lining your shelves — the ones meant to clean, freshen, and care for your loved ones — were quietly interfering with your body's most fundamental systems?

This isn't fear-mongering. It's science. And once you understand what hormone disruptors are and where they hide, you can't unsee it. More importantly, you can do something about it.

What Are Hormone Disruptors?

Hormone disruptors — also called endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) — are substances that interfere with the body's endocrine (hormonal) system.

They can mimic, block, or alter the signals that hormones send throughout the body. Even tiny exposures over time can have significant effects, especially in children, pregnant women, and pets.

These chemicals don't stay put. They accumulate in body fat, pass through skin, are inhaled from fragrances, and are absorbed through food packaging.

They have been linked to a growing list of health concerns that many families simply chalk up to "just getting older" or "stress."

Does This Sound Familiar? Check These Common Symptoms

You might be surprised how many everyday health struggles are associated with chronic exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals. Read through this list carefully — and consider whether you, your spouse, your children, or even your pets have been dealing with any of the following:

In Adults

  • Unexplained weight gain, especially around the belly — even with a healthy diet
  • Fatigue that doesn't improve with rest
  • Brain fog, mood swings, or difficulty concentrating
  • Thyroid issues or being told your hormones are "off"
  • Irregular menstrual cycles, painful periods, or early menopause
  • Low libido or fertility challenges
  • Skin issues such as adult acne, eczema, or rashes
  • Difficulty sleeping or waking unrested
  • Anxiety or depression without a clear cause

In Children

  • Early puberty (girls developing as young as 7 or 8, boys earlier than normal)
  • Behavioral challenges, hyperactivity, or difficulty focusing
  • Frequent illness or weakened immune response
  • Skin sensitivities or chronic congestion
  • Unexplained mood swings or emotional dysregulation

In Pets

  • Unexplained weight gain or lethargy
  • Skin conditions, excessive shedding, or coat problems
  • Hormonal imbalances (more common than many pet owners realize)
  • Respiratory issues or increased allergic reactions
If even a few of these feel familiar, it may be time to take a closer look at what your household is being exposed to daily.

Where Are They Hiding?

Hormone disruptors are not lurking in dark corners — they're in plain sight, marketed to us as helpful, even necessary products.

Here are the most common culprits:

Personal Care Products

  • Shampoos and conditioners containing parabens or synthetic fragrances
  • Deodorants with aluminum and phthalates
  • Lotions, makeup, and sunscreens with oxybenzone or synthetic musks
  • Antibacterial soaps with triclosan
  • Nail polish containing formaldehyde or toluene

Household Cleaning Products

  • Laundry detergents and dryer sheets with synthetic fragrances ("fragrance" on a label can represent hundreds of unlisted chemicals)
  • Multipurpose sprays and disinfectants with quaternary ammonium compounds
  • Air fresheners containing VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
  • Dishwasher detergents with phosphates and artificial dyes

Food and Home Environment

  • Plastic food containers or water bottles containing BPA or BPS
  • Non-stick cookware that releases PFAS chemicals when heated
  • Pesticide residue on conventionally grown produce
  • Canned foods lined with BPA-containing resin
The challenge is that we are not exposed to just one chemical at a time. We are exposed to dozens simultaneously, every single day, in what researchers call the "cocktail effect" — and the combined impact can far exceed what any single chemical would do on its own.

A Word from the Heart

This issue isn't just about physical health — it's about stewardship.

Scripture calls us to honor what God has entrusted to us, and that includes the bodies He has given us and the homes He has placed us in.

"Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV).

When we understand that we are God's property — spirit, soul, AND body — it changes how we think about our bodies.

We want to take better care of them and handle our bodies more responsibly. We consider more carefully what we put on them, what we breathe in, and what we bring into our homes.

Cleaning up our personal care products and our home environment isn't vanity. It's caring for the GIFT the Lord has given us (for ourselves and our loved ones).

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12:1 NKJV).

The Good News: Your Home Can Be an Oasis

Here is what is empowering about all of this: you have more control than you think.

Small, intentional changes can dramatically reduce your family's toxic load over time. You don't have to overhaul everything overnight.

Start with what you use most often and what your children and pets are most exposed to.

Some simple first steps include replacing synthetic-fragrance products with naturally scented or fragrance-free alternatives, switching to non-toxic cleaning concentrates that are safer for your family and the environment, choosing personal care products with short, recognizable ingredient lists, and using glass or stainless steel food containers instead of plastic.

Every product you swap out is a step toward a healthier home. Some dear friends of mine who've made the switch have told me that when families begin making these changes, they often notice real differences — in energy, sleep, skin clarity, mood, health, and even their children's behavior — within just weeks.

There Is a Better Way to Shop

As someone who has studied and written about health and wellness for decades, one question I've been asked is: "Where do I even find products that are actually safe? It's overwhelming!"

I get it! The marketplace can feel overwhelming, and "greenwashing" (brands that claim to be natural or clean but still contain harmful ingredients) can make it even harder to navigate.

Well, I've been super encouraged to discover what feels like an "organic Amazon" for wellness.

No, it's NOT MLM. It's an e-commerce store that curates hundreds of truly toxin-free products across every category: cleaning supplies, personal care, nutrition, pet care, and more. Everything from your laundry room to your bathroom cabinet can be replaced with products that are rigorously tested, scientifically formulated, and free from the hormone disruptors we have been talking about.

And since it's been around over 40 years (!), it's time-tested. I wish I'd found out about this years ago!!!

The value is remarkable, the quality speaks for itself, and the peace of mind knowing that what you are bringing into your home is actually safe for everyone under your roof — including your four-legged family members — is priceless.
