Spring Cleaning for Spirit, Soul, and Body
Why a fresh season calls for more than tidying up
There's something that happens when winter finally releases its grip and the days grow longer. Light pours in through windows you forgot were there. You open a door and feel a breeze alive with fragrant possibilities. Something in you stirs and says: it's time.
Spring cleaning is one of the oldest human instincts there is β and I believe there's a reason for it that goes deeper than dusty shelves and cluttered closets.
It Starts in the Spirit
As believers, we know about the new life we have in Christ Jesus: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV). A new spirit, a new beginning, and the Holy Spirit of Father God Himself alive in our recreated human spirit.
A renewed life can be wonderfully ongoing, too. "...that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind" (Ephesians 4:22-23).
We are invited, again and again, to let go of what is old, stale, and no longer part of who we are in Christ and step into the life God has prepared for us. Spring is a beautiful, tangible reminder of that invitation.
When we approach spring cleaning with that in mind, it becomes something more than a chore. It becomes an act of stewardship β of the home God has given us, yes, but also of the soul (mind, will, and emotions) and body He entrusted to our care.
What Clutter Does to the Soul

Most of us have felt it β that low-grade anxiety that hums in the background when a room is chaotic, a drawer won't close, or boxes are stacked where we keep meaning to deal with them. We've learned to tune it out, but our nervous system hasn't.
Research in environmental psychology consistently shows that visual clutter raises cortisol levels β the same stress hormone that disrupts sleep, drives emotional eating, and makes it harder to focus and pray. Clutter is not just a physical problem. It is a mental and emotional one.
When we clear a space, we clear something in ourselves. There is a reason people describe finishing a big declutter session as feeling like they can finally breathe. That feeling is real and it is worth pursuing.
The Hidden Toxins We Never Think About
Here's something most spring cleaning conversations miss: the products we use to clean may be part of the problem.
Conventional cleaning products β the ones most of us grew up with and still reach for out of habit β are among the most significant sources of indoor air pollution and toxic chemical exposure in the home. We scrub our counters, wash our floors, and spray our mirrors, thinking we're making things healthier. But many of these products contain ingredients linked to hormone disruption, respiratory issues, skin sensitivities, and more.
True spring cleaning means taking an honest look at what we're cleaning with β not just how thoroughly we're cleaning.
The same is true for our personal care products. Body wash, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste β most conventional versions contain synthetic fragrances and questionable preservatives we wouldn't recognize by name, let alone want absorbed through our skin daily.

According to the Environmental Working Group, the average woman uses 12 personal care products every single morning β and those 12 products contain 168 different chemicals. One hundred and sixty-eight. Before you've even had your first cup of coffee. π
And it's not just a numbers problem. Many of those chemicals are known hormone disruptors β parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances β that mimic or interfere with the body's natural estrogen and other hormones.
The EWG found that one in every 24 women is exposed daily to ingredients that are known or probable reproductive and developmental toxins. This is why I felt I simply couldn't stay quiet about making the switch.
When I learned what was in the products I'd been using for years β the deodorant, the lotion, the toothpaste β I didn't want to wait another morning to start making changes.
The good news? You don't have to overhaul everything at once...
A Cleaner Way Forward
That's why one of my favorite parts of spring has become what I call the toxic swap β going room by room and replacing conventional products with cleaner, greener alternatives that work just as well (often better!) and smell absolutely wonderful.
What surprised me most when I made this transition was how affordable and simple it was. I didn't have to sacrifice quality or convenience. Everything I was already buying β dish soap, laundry detergent, surface cleaners, toothpaste, deodorant, even snacks β I can now get in cleaner versions delivered straight to my door.
This is what I've been sharing with my friends through what I call the wellness store β over 500 products with clean ingredients, for the whole family, at prices that are genuinely more economical than what most of us are spending at big box stores. Think of it as your organic Amazon.
If you'd like to learn more and see whether this might be a good fit for your family, I'd love to send you some information. No pressure β just good, clean conversation! π
The Fresh Start You've Been Waiting For

Scripture tells us in Proverbs 31:27 that a woman of noble character "watches over the ways of her household." That word watches carries a sense of intentionality β of actively tending, guarding, stewarding.
This spring, I want to encourage you to tend your home β and yourself β with fresh eyes. Open the windows. Let the light in. Clear what is cluttered. Replace what is toxic. And breathe in the new season the Lord is offering us. I believe you'll sense this marvelous renewal in your spirit, your soul, and your body. πΏ
